New Zealand Steel describes current ZINCALUME® with Activate® technology as aluminium, zinc and magnesium alloy-coated steel. The magnesium-containing coating is designed to form a more robust barrier around cuts and scratches, slowing subsequent corrosion rather than making cut edges immune to corrosion.

What Does the Warranty Actually Mean?
The manufacturer publishes indicative warranties of up to 20 years for roofing in moderate environments and up to 25 years in mild environments. These are not blanket promises for every Auckland address. Property-specific eligibility should be confirmed before installation.
Product conformity also does not make every completed roof automatically compliant. Structural capacity depends on steel grade and profile, while durability depends on environment, detailing, installation and maintenance.
